MR. SORRENTO: What does that mean? DR. BAILEY: It’s often a sign of gall bladder cancer. We sent it off to pathology. MR. SORRENTO: She has cancer? DR. BAILEY: I’m afraid so. We can keep her comfortable but she’s going to need more tests to see what are next steps are. This might include more surgery. MR. SORRENTO: But the surgery will save her right? DR. BAILEY: The cancer appears to be advanced. There a palliative surgeries that we can do, that is surgeries to help with the pain but it won’t cure it. MR. SORRENTO (devastated looks through the window into the ward his wife is in): How long she g ot? DR. BAILEY: From what we can tell so far …she has about 4 to 6 months. I’m so sorry. (Dr. Bailey walks away. Meredith sad moves to walk away as well but Mr. Sorrento stops her) MR. SORRENTO: I don’t want Esme to know. MEREDITH: What? MR. SORRENTO: Esme. I don’t want her to know she’s dying. MEREDITH: You don’t want to tell her? MR. SORRENTO: Please. You saw her. She’s happy. Let me take her home. I don’t want her to be afraid before she dies. She doesn’t need to. (Cut to Meredith talking to Mrs. Sorrento by herself in her patient room about her cancer) MEREDITH: …and we can treat it with surgery and chemo but …. MRS.
